Introduction

In Indian constitution …..animal husbandry is an important subject of states list, enshrined under

…….VIIth  schedule.

 As per constitution, …part IV art-48, the constitution gives direction to states to ………organize agriculture & animal husbandry .

That’s why due focus was given on animal husbandry as a complementary activity to agriculture .By animal husbandry the various problems of farmers are automatically solved,…… e.g. nutritional requirement, ploughing, bio fertilizers, fuels etc .In the current era of L.P.G., the farmers are adopting it as a separate specialized activity.

In M.P. the scenario of animal Husbandry is as follows-

-Total animals-4 crores. Total poultry birds-75 Lakhs.

Under Red-revolution, there is promotion of production of mutton is promoted(90,000 Mtonns)  .

-Under Silver revolution, the production  ofpoultry (90 lac tonnes )is promoted  but diseases like bird flue, had hit it badly.

In state, operation Flood -IIIrdis in progress (promotion of milk production).  This is done by 3-tiers co-operative committees on ……….AMUL(Anand Milk Udyog Limited) model.  3 tiers as follows.

Total milk production of MP 147 LMT.

1) Rural areas:- For  production and collection of milk.

2) Dist. level: For processing & marketing of milk. e.g. Bhopal milk fedration (sachi) ,Indore  milk fedration (saurabh)

3)State Co-operative Mahasangh:- For planning & formulation .

-Under, Blue-revolution, there is emphasis on fisheries. In M.P, 3 lac hectares of water available for fishing. Out of  which 2.92 lac hectare is used ( 97% areas is under use).

In M.P. the annual fishery production is 1,50,000 MTtonnes.

This also works on 3-tier system.

-Rajya Pashudhan&kukkut Vikas Nigam

In 1982 it was established in Bhopal.

It works for promotion of all types of animals except  fisheries& milk producing animals.

-Aadhar-like unique identification numbers for Cattle

Over 90 lakh cattle in Madhya Pradesh are set to get their own Aadhar-like unique identification numbers. The state would be the first in the country to start work on a pilot project of this Centrally-sponsored scheme. "Over 90 lakh dairy animals in Madhya Pradesh are to be tagged with a …..12-digit Unique Identification (UID) number under the…… Centre-sponsored…National Mission on Bovine Productivity.

The work is underway across the state on a pilot basis," byPradesh Rajya Pashudhan Evam Kukkut Vikas Nigam (MP State Livestock and Poultry Development Corporation). "After obtaining information about the animal in a prescribed form, it would be uploaded through a software (in online database).

Cow welfare

Key features-

-MP Government has decided that a tax plan will be prepared to mop up funds for cow fodder.

-Planned to impose surcharge on services provided by local bodies in order to generate Rs 100 crore for meeting the expenses of running cow shelters in Madhya Pradesh.

-Cow products should be promoted and cow phenyl should be used across Government offices.

-To build 2,200 gaushalas (cow shelters),

-To develop six gaushalas as training centres,

-To restart eight Gau Sadans, which were shut down

-To develop Salaria Gau Sanctuary of Agar-Malwa district as a model sanctuary.

-To set up a Gauvansh Van Vihar in Jabalpur district. For this van Vihar, 530 acres of land is available with Animal Husbandry Department.

Sagar

Thecentral government has decided to make Madhya Pradesh 's first Gokul village in Sagar district. For this, the state government has allotted 500 acres of land. There will be a living arrangement for 600 indigenous Indian cows on this land. 

About one lakh 70 thousand rupees will be spent in raising facilities for living, eating and treatment for a cow here, which means a total of ten crore rupees will be spent for cows in Gokul village.
