For the first time, eight beaches of India have been recommended for the prestigious international eco-label, Blue Flag.

What is a Blue flag beaches?

The ‘Blue Flag’ beach is an ‘eco-tourism model’ and marks out beaches as providing tourists and beachgoers clean and hygienic bathing water, facilities/amenities, a safe and healthy environment and sustainable development of the area.

Blue Flag winners not only have to meet a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria but also maintain them.
