Black unrest in USA
Protests over the death of unarmed black man George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis erupted across the US .
George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was fatally arrested in Minneapolis, Minnesota .
A video posted on social media of the incident allegedly showed white police officer Derek Chauvin pushing down on Mr Floyd's neck with his knee as he yelled, "I can't breathe." Mr Chauvin and his three colleagues present at the death were fired and an FBI investigation began.
A medical examiner in Minnesota classified Mr Floyd's death as a homicide.
An autopsy from the county medical examiner also called Floyd's death a homicide, but concluded he died from "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint and neck compression."
Homicide is the act of one human killing another. A homicide requires only a volitional act by another person that results in death, and thus a homicide may result from accidental, reckless, or negligent acts even if there is no intent to cause harm.
