Every year UPSC (Union Public Services Commission) conducts IAS Exam to recruit eligible candidates for the posts of IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and other Group A and Group B of All India Services.
IAS 2020 Preliminary exam was conducted on 4th Oct 2020 in offline mode.
Candidates who clear prelims can sit for the main paper and similarly who clear the main exam can sit for interview/personality test.
However, a candidate’s score in prelims will not be taken into consideration while preparing the Final Merit List.
Nearly 10.58 lakh candidates has registered for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services examination (CSE) prelims that was held today. The candidates who have appeared in the prelims rated the paper as moderate, and the paper followed the pattern of prelims of previous years.
The UPSC has taken special measures owing to COVID-19 guidelines. Among those, the number of exam centres have been increased this year due to social distancing.
The recruitment exams are being held at 72 centres and 2,500 sub-centres.
The commission has also allowed candidates to change their exam centres, and over 60,000 candidates had availed this option.
IAS cut off is arrived by the permutations of three factors.
- The difficulty level of the question paper
- The number of vacancies in the exam
- The number of applicants appeared in the exam(rarest of the rarest)
IAS cut-off is inversely proportional to the number of vacancies for the exam. The higher the number of vacancies, lower the IAS cutoff.
IAS cut off is directly proportional to the difficulty level of the IAS question paper. With the increase in the difficulty level of the question paper, the cut off also increase.
