The Parmar’s of Malwa

The Parmars were very influential and strong rulers of M.P. The main historical source about them is Navshasankcharit by Padma Gupta. The founder of this dynasty was Upendra, who was also known as Krishnaraj. He shifted his capital from Ujjain to Dhar.

Later on it was ruled by Munj from 973 to 995 . He defeated Huns . He defeated .. 6th   times Tel-II the founder of Chalukyas of Kalyani, , but 7th time he was defeated . He was imprisoned and there after he was assassinated . The virtues of ..Munj is described in Merutung’sPrabandha Chintamani.

Raja Bhoj (1000 to 1055)

Very influential and strong Parmar ruler who constructed Upper lake , temple of Bhojpur , City of Bhopal.

He wrote a book AyurvedSarvasva . He also wrote SamrangamSutradhar  on music .

 His commanderKulchandra Jain constructed a Saraswati school known as Bhojshala at Dhar. Later on a Mosque was constructed. The govt. has permitted ..Muslims to pray on every Friday and to pray Hindus on every Basant Panchmi .
